Savitri Bai Phule was an Indian social reformer and poetess . She was born on 2rd January 1831 in Naigaon , Maharashtra . She belonged to a farmer family. At the age of nine , she was married to twelve year old . Jyoti Rao Phule in 1840 . They have no children of their own . However they adopted Yashvant Rao , who was the son of a widow , along with her husband , she played an important role in improving women’s rights in Indian during British Rule. The Couple founded the first women’s school at Bhide Wade in Pune. She was the first lady teacher in India . She worker as an equal partner in the mission of uplifting the poor and appressed and especially for women.
